93' 115 johnson, Exhaust oil in water

[MOETOROLA]

Have a 93' 115 johnson. There is black oily watery substance leaking from were water should be coming out. There are three 1/8" holes one on the back of the lower unit and two on the underside of the cav plate on either side of the lower unit. Also when i say back i mean cone side or bow side of low unit, not prop side. LOL<br />Is this a bad thing to hve leaking.

I would say it's unburned fuel, and oil leaking out the drain hole's. Those hole's are meant to drain the lower unit to prevent freeze breakage, and corrosion.

By draining the gearcase, he means certain cavities that can otherwise retain puddles of water. They don't drain the gearlube out of the gearcase. Check your gearlube. If it's as dark as the oil coming out of the holes, it could be a seal leak. If it's cleaner, then it has to be unburned oil which is fairly common, especially if the motor wasn't run hard before shutdown. If the amount is enough to create puddles under the motor, then you may have a fuel leak and that's what's making it's way down the motor.
