Hi there, I just bought a fish and ski w/ a 1993 200 merc outboard. I am going to change the lower unit oil this weekend, but I cannot find a single refrence for how much oil it holds. Do any of you know its capacity? Thx.

hello
Iusually dont checkthe capacity in the manual. it is rarely correct. I screw the pump in the lower unit drain and pump it until it flows from the vent. most of the v6 units held somewhere around 25 ounces.
good luck and keep posting.

The MERC book shows 22.5 oz. As Rodbolt sez be sure to fill from the bottom.

RFish >()> :) :)

If you buy a quart of oil you will have plenty...

Thanks guys. One more thing, I bought the clymers shop manual, but it doesn't list capacities. I got this boat used, and it did not come with the engine owners manual. Do you know where I can get one?

I have the Mercury manual got it direct from Mercury. I find with the Merc manual and the Seloc or Clymers (I have all 3) manual you get enough info to do any job. Merc manual lists all the fill requirements etc. this is where I got the numbers in my previous post. Also if you search I have seen the mercury manual on-line, don't remember where though.

RFish >()> ;) ;)
