93 50HP Merc Outboard, Oil Injection NOW HAVE PIC!

Gday guys just bought a Boat with a 93/94 50hp Merc on the back, it looks to me like it has oil injection setup on it as it has a canister sitting at the back and a pump looking thing under that but the guy I bought it off said to use 50:1 premix, im wondering how I can tell if the oil injection is working/connected or not.<br /><br />Also wondering where abouts the serial/model numbers are located on this outboard ive checked around the mounts on the boat and cant see anything?<br /><br />Cheers Lee.

fill oil canister with oil ,mark level, then run motor with mixed gas to see if level changes, reg # is located on transom mount, unless removed, will be silver tag with numbers on it.

hmm yeah no silver tags on the transom mount, anywhere else I can get numbers from? I want to verify its age.<br /><br />Cheers for the input

Not sure if this motor the same but on my 20hp it's also stamped on the welsh plug just above the exahaust manifold

Describe the cowling paint layout or post up a pic.

Sorry this is the best pic I have at the minute, The arrow shows what I am talking about, after a bit of reasearch im lead to beleive it may be just a water oil seperator?<br /><br />PS: Can anyone tell what age the motor is from looking at the cowl Paint? its supposed to be 93/94?<br /><br />Cheers for the help guys<br />
