I got this motor with the lower pulled off. The lower got a hole in it and ended up seizing all the bearings. I was going to patch the hole and replace the bearings but there are a lot of other odds and ends missing and it's going to cost me as much as just replacing the lower. I need to know what other lowers will cross over.

SEI likely makes a new replacement for about the cost of a used unit.

Any v-6 lower unit with 1:87 ratio from 1992 to 2000 will fit, all you need to do is install your driveshaft...

Perfect. I've heard that the v4 lowers will fit also but have a different gear ratio. I have the gears also. Will they fit in the v4 lu?

I'm no genius but this is what you all keep referencing and I don't see any 1993 150hp listing.

85-140.............(crossflow 13 spline prop shaft).............1978-1991
88-140.............(crossflow 13 spline prop shaft)..............1992-1998
120-140 Looper V-4... (15 spline prop shaft)...................1985-1991
75-115 60 degree........(bat wing unit 13 spline)...............1995-2006
150-235 & 2.6.................(crossflow V-6)......................1979-1991
185-225.........................(Looper V-6).........................1986-1991
185-225....................(Looper V-6 & Ficht)....................1991-2005
150-250.......................( Magnum Series).....................2002-2007

What type of gears do you have and no V-6 gears will not fit a V-4 housing...

The gears in the lower. The lower was intact minus water pump and associated hardware. I'd imagine the gears are all whatever was standard on this motor. I was just going to patch the hole and replace bearings but during disassembly my parts list quickly grew to over a grand worth of parts. Basically the housing, shafts and gears are the only salvageable items. Sadly this is the cleanest 1993 outboard I have ever seen and the power head is entirely rebuilt and pristine. I just need an affordable lower.

What I don't understand is why an entire outboard with a blown motor can be found for 200-400 including lower, but then a stand alone lower is a grand or more.

Then buy the entire blown motor, take the gearcase and scrap the rest. Or even keep a few of the other accessory parts to have as spares - ignition stuff, carbs...

Well that's the plan and why I need to know what lowers will work

I spoke to a local dealer and they said any v6 lower from 1979 to 2010 will work. Sounds fishy.
