Nice looking rig! Even at $900, you have a solid project boat.

Funky looking transom!?!

Thanks. I'm pretty excited about getting started on it! Yes, that is one funky transom. It looks like it's pretty well-built. The welds look good. I was shocked how easy this thing towed behind an old '97 Jeep Cherokee ( the box type). Pretty darn light for it's size. Then again, there's no motor in the boat!

Oh, the guy found the titles to both boat AND trailer. Whew... getting a trailer title in Va. is supposed to be next to impossible. Turns out the trailer is a 2004. I figured that by itself ( having the title to the trailer) is worth the extra $$. Now to find an engine.....

Ordered a long block from Rapido Marine. Should be here this week. Got the heart-shaped Vortec heads. Should be ready to go by Spring Rockfish season.

Might post the motor question over in the I/O forum for Mercruisers.

Lots of good guys hanging out in there, that may never catch your question here in a resto thread....

It looks like I'll probably buy a '96-99 Vortec motor from Rapido Marine. People say good things about them and I like that they are small and do all the machine work and assembly in-house. They use good parts, too. I spoke to a guy ( Ken from Ken's Marine here in Stafford) who did some work on a Warlock 25 I had about 15 years ago about doing the install. I'm kinda on the fence about putting in the motor myself. It's not that I can't do it, I'm sure I could. I'm just thinking about the fact that I won't have any help and I'll have to climb in and out of the boat a million times to line up the outdrive and do a hundred other things. Not to mention the lift I'll have to build in the driveway and all that. I'm only 55 years old but it's been a hard 55 years and my back and hip asked me if I could just pay someone to do it. I know, don't be such a wimp..... but paying someone else would be my idea of the ultimate in luxury ( I would feel kinda guilty though, kinda like a Painter paying someone else to paint his house!)

Found this ATK engine at Summit Racing. It's got the good stuff plus the oil pan, valve covers and timing cover. That stuff adds up if you piece-meal it one part at a time. Doesn't look like too bad a deal since it's free delivery, handling and truck freight. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hpe-vmk9

Pull the drive and then drop the motor in! easy breezy no more than an hr or 2 by yourself a lil help never hurts but pullin the drive is a must. You need to inspect the gimble bearing and bellows anyway and it wouldn't hurt to change out the lower end impellar ! Food for thought and good insurance to avoid future frustration!

There ya go! That's what I need, some words of encouragement! How many times have I dreaded doing a job and then just got up and attacked it like a vicious animal and knocked it out. Heck, the old engine is already out, for Christ's sake. Just think, with the $$ I save I can buy some new fishin rods and reels, or a new fishfinder, or maybe stick a 4 barrel on that darn thing! Thanks fanny, I needed that! And your absolutely right about the gimble bearing and bellows. hmmm maybe I'll get Kens Marine to check the gimble, bellows, put in a fresh impeller, change the........ damn.

Re: '93 Fisher 19' I/O --Cheap But Needs 4.3 Replaced

Well, I sold my Z28 Camaro today. Nice young Soldier bought it (23 years old). He took a AK-47 round to his chest about 1" above his armor over in Afghanistan which exited out the back of his right shoulder but he's doing great and seems to have made a full recovery. God Bless him. I hope he doesn't kill himself in the Camaro. I'm thinking that I will take about $3500 of the cash to fix up this tin can. $2500 for the repower and $1000 for whatever else. The rest will probably go to surgery for my dogs knees ($4500!!!, I shoulda been a Veterinarian!!) Let's see what happens..... Any more suggestions on a good source for an engine would be much appreciated. Thanks
