Problem solved on my 1993 Force 150. It took a while to get the exhaust seal, but after it was installed my engine is running great. Thanks to everyone who took time to post questions and comments.

Force 120 Exhaust Seal part number is F698735-1

Hey,

Any you guys know where I can purchase this exhaust seal? So far I am being told that this seal is obsolete.

Any help with a part source would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: 93 Force 120 Idle Problem.

I'm having the same problem with my '88 force 125. Does anyone know the part number for this model 1254x88c. I looked at some blueprints but not really sure what part you all are talking about plus i've never dropped the a lowerunit before. So i've never seen first hand what is inside one. First time ever owning a boat. If anyone knows just p.m. me.

thanks

Re: 93 Force 120 Idle Problem.

a few days ago i posted this same type of problem after reading all the chat that this one got i have only one ? i can see this seal in an illustration however it doesnt show where it is at, is it below the waterpump or on top of the water pump from the look of the picture it appears to be some sort of chunk of rubber or something
It's time for an update.

Thank you everyone for your help concerning my idle problem! I am very happy to report my problem with the rough idle has been fixed. Finally a victory with a force. I looked at the link someone sent me for the schematic of the force engines and found that there should be an exhaust seal in the lower unit to keep the exhaust going out the snout and prop and not allowing it bubble up past the shift linkage hole. When I removed the lower unit there was no seal at all. So I ordered the seal from the local marina and put it in place. When trying to connect the lower unit back up to the rest of the motor, with the seal in place, it is very difficult to get it connected. I think someone at some time removed the lower unit and had trouble getting it back together so they just removed the seal. I can't believe the rough idling would have something to do with a seal in the LOWER UNIT. The motor runs like brand new. It idles forever and doesn't clunk out when I put it in gear. If anyone is having trouble with rough idle while the motor cover is on, you should remove the lower unit and make sure the exhaust seal is in place and in good condition. I've tried to attached pics so you can see what I'm talking about but I can't figure out how to past or attach them but The part number is F698735-1. If it weren't for all your help I would have proabaly paid those darn marina's hundreds of dollars looking for the problem. Every mechanic I talked to thought it was the carbs. Good thing I'm a cheapscate and wanted to do it myself. I think they would have messed with idle speeds and mixtures and never thought about the exhaust seal. So thanks everyone!

Re: 93 Force 120 Idle Problem.

I had exhaust leaking under the engine cover and causing it to stall, this fixed it. The previous owner could not fix the exhaust issue, sold me the boat not telling me about (I got a good price) but I got a $5000 boat for $3500 and just fixed it with a $20 dollar part...karma! It is a U shaped rubber gasket that fits on top of the pump cover. This is for my 1990 120HP force-goto "Gear Housing" then look for #69. It sort of fits around #20.

I bought the part online at boats.net. I found another at a different online place and ordered another just in case. They cancelled the order on me. Try googling the part number or try eBay or start calling boat suppliers around your area. Good luck!
