'93 Johnson 60hp reputation?

Hey guys I am considering repowering my 16' Starcraft with a motor that had power TNT. Right now I have a Merc 650 form '67 that runs great but I am always paranoid when I head more than a mile away from the dock. I want to get something a little newer and am tired of manually tilting my motor, and porpoising. I have access to a 93 Johnny power trim for $450. It does not come with controls. Any input guys or should I hold out for something a bit newer?

That's a good price for a '93 60hp with T/T! Do a compression test, spark test and look at the lower unit oil. If it all checks out, and it's not beat to death, I'd grab it! Here in Vermont, that's a 600 to 800 dollar motor.

Ouch, yea sorry dudes posted from my Iphone, not sure how I got the duplicate thread..... Anyway I am definately thinking about it. I just sold the 650 for $700, with the spare L/U that I had. Sooooo I am on the market for a newer motor with PTnT. Plus I am way more of an OMC guy than a Merc fanatic, thats the #1 that I sold old Bessie.
