Hi,

I read a manual not (OEM), on this motor and it said to turn the idle screw counterclockwise all the way then open 1 or 2 turns than adjust for smoothness. Is this wrong ? All the ones I've seen go clockwise to shut the fuel off, then open and adjust from there. Thanks. Bob

Gotta love the non OEM manuals, tsk tsk. The best is OEM

Anyway, the info is probably telling you to turn the idle speed adjustment know on the end of the tiller handle counter clockwise to full slow position.

Then you run the engine at slow speed and adjust the low speed needleuntil the highest consistent rpm is attained, allow 15 seconds after each adjustmentfor the engine to respond.

After final adjustment is completed turn the low speed needle 1/8 turn counter clockwise to prevent a lean condition, particularly in neutral.

Then you turn the idle adjustment screw(end of tiller handle) to run at minimum 650rpm in forward.

If you turn the idle mixture scew fully counter clockwise you are simply going to unscrew it until it comes out (unless it has a left hand thread which isnt likely)

I think you are right screw it fully (but gently) in. Then screw it back out 1? turns and then adjust from there for best running when warmed up.
