After summerizing the boat started to overheat ,so I cleaned the riser, that was blocked and tested the thermostat. The next day I tested the boat and noticed something different from what was normal before. The engine relatively easy reached 180 degrees at full load and when idling dropped to 150.I am a bit annoyed since it never reached 180 last summer.is that still normal? Also when steering at speed a noise from the outdrive was noticeable-bad u-joints may be?Thank you in advance!

I bet your power steering cooler/heat exchanger is clogged. it gets the water right after the impeller and before the thermostat. did it get winterized??

It is a raw water cooling system.I might presume that more debris from the system have gathered in the straits at the riser -manifold connection.Won`t they be washed away after some time? The engine was winterised dry.

If you have a power steering pump on there you have a Cooler too. follow the lines.. its either on the back of engine or the port side.

The noise you're hearing could be the u-joints, or it could be the gimbal bearing. You can grease the gimbal to see if it quiets down. But, I suggest you pull the drive to examine both. If either one dynamites u could be looking at some serious damage. Not worth the risk.

Ayuh,....

I'd sooner think that it's Way Overdue for Replacement.......
Both Manifold,+ Riser....

I took the outdrive out .The gimbal bearing was roasted. The u-joints might tolerate some greasing, but the belows should be renewed. How about my temperature issues?i don`t have power steering. Thanks!

Back flush the system ,, get all the old impeller pieces out. and install new impeller & housing,, new gaskets too.
