93 Spectrum BlueFin 40Merc trlr package?

A friend is thinking about buying a 93 165 16FT Spectrum Blue Fin and 40 Merc W bow mnt trolling motor Boat motor trailer.Appears nice but for a cleanup.Assuming a proper inspection with good results and realizing it is under powered Is there any objection to this boat/motor combination at $3,000?To be used mostly for light cruising,fishing 2 people on local Central NY rivers and lakes.I haven't bought a boat or motor since 88 so am outside of main stream market.I'll be doing a little research to see what i can find out as well.

to me the price seems high. decks on them are known to be rotted at that age. thru it is going to be underpowered. but most SBF's were. it is a great handling boat. check for electrolysis, on the hull. you can see my restoration of my 89 1702, and others here: http://forums.iboats.com/Blue_Fin_Boats

Thanks;Thats a nice job. They claim always stored inside I'll tell him to check for rot in deck and transom as well.
