I'm getting to know my new (to me) motor, which I like very much, but there are a couple things about it that I can't figure out with the Suzuki manual. First, there's a plug on the lower unit next to one of the gear oil plugs that's labelled "Flush." What is this for? Second, I'm concerned about running this motor on the muffs. When I duct tape the upper water intake and start the motor on the muffs, there's no telltale stream. Is this normal? I just replaced the water pump and it streams fine in the river.

Re: '93 Suzuki DT75 mysteries

Suzuki makes a fitting for that flush port but my dealer said its better to use muffs. Until recently I had a DT85 (basically same motor) and I found that the double flow muffs work better (the kind where water comes in from both sides instead of one). If it still doesn't pee you may need to look at the water pump. It should pee on the muffs as well as in the water.

the flush connector is still available but its rarely used. Is there a "hidden" water inlet above the prop. Its supposed to be sealed off when running on side muffs , although i never do, as you'll lose alot of water before it even gets to the pump.
