93' Yamaha C40PLRR 2-stroke value?

Any clue how much this is worth? Its a Yamaha C40PLRR 2-stroke. Engine is clean, you can eat off it. It starts right up. I have run it 3 times and its fast gets on plane quick. Other than the skeg I dont see anything wrong with it. Not necessarily looking to sell as much as getting a value for it. Prices seem to be all over the place on outboards.

have you looked on line for blue book value on that 1993 motor or what ever it is called on outboard motors?
I do no think a 21 year motor would do well on their charts.
if it has good compression, runs well at all RPMs , and you can remove bolts when needed without breaking them off,
then it may be worth something.
But it still has a messed up lower unit and they are not cheap

Here in Texas a motor needs a title/registration to prove it is not stolen when sold. Have you checked to make sure you are legal on the buying of it?

Yea, NADA said average retail is 680.00, its got to be worth more than that. Its my motor and I am just curious what a ballpark range would be on it. The skeg repair runs around 150 bucks (from what I hear) and they also make covers/protectors for them in the 100 range.

Stolen motors are not worth much at all and ones with tore up lower units are worth less.
Do you have a clear title?
Post the serial # so all can see in case they use to own it and it went missing

How can anyone put a price on a motor they know nothing about.
Used Motors are worth what someone is willing to pay whether it it is a good deal or not for them
New lower costs well more than the motor is worth any way you look at it.
Having it welded back to new and all seals replaced because of heat from welding is more than 150 at any shop
