So I'm looking at buying a boat from someone that didnt winterize it and resulted in a cracked block. I was wondering what exactly ill be looking at for replacement blocks if its not repairable. From what I know the 3.0 volvo penta is just a bored out 2.5L chevy engine. Id like to be able to just replace the block with a car block but the odd size of the 3.0 has me a little unsure of what exactly I can do with it besides spending the big bucks on a remaned Marine block. Looking for any tips from people who have done this before

Yeah I know that. What about getting a 2.5L long Block from a jeep? I know the power loss would be a negative but if its possible i might go that route

Not the same. The Jeep 2.5 was either a GM based block or a Jeep (AMC) block.

Even if it is the GM block, it's a different animal. The 2.5 GM had a cross flow head. The 3.0L is not a cross flow. The 2.5 and 3.0 GM blocks were Industrial engines, they never were in vehicles.

Ayuh,... If cracked Internally, it Ain't,...

As stated, the 2.5l, 'n the 3.0ls are industrial/ marine, not automotive,...
