I am a noob here but have been searching for my answer since yesterday with no luck. I have a 94 88 spl and got a quick question about the carbs. I noticed that when the throttle on the center console is at wot the butter flys on the cabs are no where near all the way open. To me this is strange bc for instance on my quad when you pin the throttle the slide opens all the way up. Shouldn't the same apply here.. butterflys open all the way? Thanks ahead of time and i will keep searching, but hope someone will chime in.

At WOT the butterflies in the carb should be 90 degrees to the bore, wide open.

Sounds like the throttle cable is out of adjustment at the engine end. You may also have to do a sync and link on the carbs. Also, check the carb roller/sleeve to make sure it still is intact-some of the rollers lose their sleeve with age, and that can cause running issues.

You need to do a Link and Sych. Check any manual and it will go through it. What kind of performance are you getting without the plates opening all the way?

agree 100% with emdsapmgr.

remove throttle cable at motor, place control in neutral, idle. now place motor at idle.

adjust the big trunion nut, so that the cable will reattach, without moving motor linkage. you adjust the cable to the motor, NOT the motor to the cable.
