Engine rebuilt 1 year ago, running strong and suddenly at idle (out of gear) died. Restarts no problem but dies after a few seconds. Will run with throttle but at low throttle looses power and eventually dies. There was water in fuel filter so I replaced, plugs looked fouled (wet carbon) so I replaced them with champions, neither made a difference. Any tips out there?

I have had a similar problem with my Force 120hp, where exhaust fumes get inside the engine hood. This does then kill the bugger, due to lack of air into the carb's. Make sure that there is no leaks in the exhaust system. Also make sure that the engine cowling seals below the waterline, the exhaust fumes can also bubble up from the prop exhaust into the hood.

Good luck

Thanks for the feedback Darren......I have tried running with the hood off with same results.

Ouch.....after having the problem diagnost I found that #2 is blown and I am just out of the 1 year warrenty. Mechanic recommends that I rebuild it again but remove the VRO pump and replace it with Yamaha fuel pump and mix the Oil Gas manually. He says great moter that way. Any feedback?
