Had my motor rebuilt started it up and Oil horn was going off. I have the Merc factory manual and checked all the possibilities and everything checks out. I don't wany to throw parts at it just not sure where to start. I went through the 5 hour double oil premix at idle speed and when I went to start the next stage of breakin at 3500 rpm it won't pull past 1800. Any suggestions?

First .. is the oil pump pumping? Remove hose from pump to fuel line and check for output while running. If no output, oil gear on crank or shaft is suspect. If #1 cylinder was bored oversize they forgot to reinstall the shaft bushing in bottom of cylinder. It has to be removed to bore as boring bar willl hit it. If all ok turn magnet upside down in sensor.

Take it back and get it fixed.

I will check the Magnet. The pump is pumping it ran fine at idle used approx 1/2 gallon of oil for 15 gallons of fuel. I can't take it back for repairs, they are in Florida and I'm in Arizona. My whole experence with this outfit was a joke.

Any suggestions on the inabillity to get over 1800 RPMs? Thanks for the input so far and thanks JB for moving to correct forum.

I checked the magnet and this model has it sealed in and it tested ok with the compass. Can the warning module still be bad if everything test out good? When you turn the key on it cycles the beeps but still give the beeps for no oil flow.

The oil warning module compares signals from the oil pump rotation sensor to the ignition pulses from a cylinder, if they do not match then it alarms.

Coupled with it will not run AND a fresh rebuild running extra oil, change plugs and retest briefly on the garden hose.

I'm hoping nothing is wrong but a fouled plug, you may get lucky.

Just want to double check that your still running a 50:1 fuel mixture in your gas tank since your troubleshooting a no oil alarm. Im sure you are since your still in break in, but would hate to see you lose a good powerhead.
