Hey all.. I purchased a boat from a buddy 4 years ago, he was the original owner, a 94 smokercraft 16' tiller. It sat for about 7 years unused before I bought it and its been sitting for 4 years since I bought it (11 years total). I finally got around to fixing it up with all this stay at home stuff. new floor/carpet/batteries etc.. The motor ran 4 years ago when I bought it (did not have it in the water, just muffs in the yard for a few minutes).

Well 4 years later it would not start. I pumped the gas out and put in fresh gas, pulled the carbs and fuel pump and rebuilt both of those (rebuilt carbs first, then fuel pump after stalling issue, made no change). It now starts up right away and runs great but after a min or two it will stall out.. only way to keep it running is to pump the ball from the gas tank (replaced that as well). I replaced all the fuel lines, put in a new filter after the fuel pump.. the primer/ball pumps up nice and hard and looking at the filter after the fuel pump I see its full of gas.. I see no air bubbles after pumping it at first but about 10-20 seconds later I do see air bubbles in there.. so maybe an air leak somewhere? I have replaced all gas lines, new hose clamps etc.. Both carbs suck in air nicely when running, don't see anything spitting out of them...not sure what else to do at this point.. suggestions? Thanks all!

The gasket between the fuel pump and the engine block has to go in a certain way for it to pump. If I remember correctly....

Perhaps we start with HP ( 45 / 50 ) and a serial # of this motor.
