Your picture might be corrosion. It can happen if you don't use sacrificial annodes and run in slat water without flushing often. Thats not really what it looks like though. It looks like a break as though something came loose and made its way outside. Rod, piece of a piston etc. If you are dedicated to keeping this block you probably can with some welding and a rebuild if it is a breakage issue. If it is corrosion I wouldnt think it prudent to attempt a repair on that block or the heads.

It still runs, nothing came apart, the hole is in the water jacket. it looks real thin, i always flush with fresh water and it had anodes on it when i got it 3 yrs ago the previous owners may or may not have though.
okay scratch that, after further inspection i can see the crank spinning thru the hole....so something came loose and busted thru? still not sure where the water came from. i have it on muffs running but I dont see any water other than where its suppose to come out of. yesterday when it happened i took the cowling off to look and it was full of water.

It would be a really good idea to stop using that motor if you want to keep any of the parts for the inevitable rebuild . If you arent interested in rebuilding it you need to find another powerhead. If you are interested in rebuilding it its not too late to save many if not most of the parts.
