Hi to all! I have an issue I would like to throw out there and see what you guys think.
I have a 94 4.3 L v6 that was completely rebuilt 60 days ago. The whole motor was gone thru, crank grinded and polished, bored .30 over, new lifters, bearings, etc. The whole nine yards including the heads. The boat has been running great but On the the 4th of July after sitting anchored for most of the morning, we went to go tubing and the oil pressure read like 20 lbs before I gave it gas. Then after I revved the motor, it idled out and then dropped to zero, but no alarms went off and the motor kept idling. This motor has a cut off switch that kills the electrical to the fuel pump when the oil pressure drops to keep the operator from ruining the motor. Anyway, everything was fine before that day. I am thinking it is the guage. But the next day the battery wire to the starter broke off. I am wondering if it is low voltage causing the low reading. Any thoughts? Oh, when at 2500 rpm, oil pressure is at 40 lbs. I just find it hard to believe something has spun in a newly rebuilt motor, or has it? Any thoughts or ways to verify the correct oil pressure? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Battery cable broke ??????? Fix the wiring, all of it, then see what the oil pressure does.

If still low, temporarily install a mechanical gauge on the engine and see what it says.
