My Johnson Faststrike Model#j115gledc will not start unless I pour a little gas into the chamber and start it. It will run for about 20 sec. and starve. This is performed with the choke in full choke, which leads me to believe my carbs need the bowls cleaned as well as the venturies cleaned. Am I on the right track? Is their a good carb cleaner that I can inject to free up the shelac build-up and what is the procedure? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!! a

Hi billc

I dont believe there are any good shortcuts to a carbclean that is really effective. Injecting carbcleaner through intake only cleans the airside of carbs, and what is worse it will for a moment wash off all lubricant from bearings and cylinderwalls. Far better is removing carbs and writing down where every little part and jet came from, disasembling and soaking overnight in carb cleaner. Blow through with compressed air, and now your carbs are clean. Be aware on a few motors not all carbs have same jet # - notice where they came from.
