Motor is great. Boat is moored and engine is tilted up after use. Approx. 2 or 3 thimbles full of fuel collects in the lower pan after each use. How much is too much and floats need adjusted? Will this have any adverse affects on anything else?

Angus,
The needle valve(s) may be worn a little although this is not an uncommon sight to see. When the motor is tilted up, all 6 carbs. will dribble and lose a little gas.The higher it's tilted the more gas your gonna see.Usually by the next time you use the boat the gas has evaporated.Gravity/physics taking over....

That motor would have the plastic (minlon) float bowls that are prone to warping. They do not seal well at the front center. The bowls can be replaced separatly and we stock enough to do a v-6 if required. We had to replace 5 out of 6 bowls on a 200hp last summer.

On those carbs there is a small "bb" type deal thats used to seal a passage. Many times these weep fuel and will do as you mentioned. Ive seen people try to put epoxy over them but it has to be perfectly clean.

Since the throttle shafts are verticle in your motor you may have some weeping there too. Its particularily annoying on the white motors. Sometimes people put something under the airbox to absorb the drips, like an oil absorbing cloth.

Good luck!

BTY - dont overlook the obvious. make sure the seal in the air silencer is good and the balance tube drain is hooked up.

I'm sure you checked but I thought it may be worth mentioning.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the responses. All the vents/drains are hooked up. I did notice that it appears to be shiny (wet) where those little ball bearings are swaged in. I guess if it stays to a minimum, I'll just wipe and go. A friend of mine has a 98 motor with a similar drip. After all 6 carbs rebuilt, little change. I guess it's something just to live with.

If the float bowls are leaking at the "BB" in the bottom, it is best to replace them. I've heard that some folks cleaned the area and filled it with epoxy.
