Looks like it's time to replace the thermostats and blow off valve. The engine is idling below 140 degrees, and as soon as I throttle up, it drops way below 120 degrees instantainiously. Actually looks like the gauge is pegged cold.
Won't idle, fouled plugs, excessive fuel consumption, reduced WFO performance. (just like the Clymer maunal says for a stuck thermostat)

Question: I've been told I should replace the blow off valve with a 1997 valve with the slots in it to avoid the "air bubble" syndrome. Should I also get the 1997 thermostats? Is there a "kit" for this assembly? Do they come in different temperatures? If so, which would you recommend for ocean trolling?

thanks

I don't have my manual in front of me so can't be much help there.

Why don't you just replace the old parts with the original OEM parts that came with the motor? They seem to have worked well up until this point.

Re: 95' 200 Ocean Runner running cold

I received the OEM parts yesterday. About $52 for the stainless thermostats, gaskets, seals, and the 1997 blow off valve.

Question:
The 3 grooves in the blow off valve are pretty small, and the cross sectional area doesn't seem to add up to that of a 1/8" hole.
Is this enough area, or do you recommend drilling a small hole also, like a 1/16" in the center of the valve?
