I recently save a '95 skeeter bass boat from the glue factory. It is a good looking boat, motor runs excellent, flooring all firm, carpet shows no wear, Nice looking boat. But...the hull has been abused. Looks like it was pulled out of water without a trailer. Someone has done a glass job once before. It has pits in the gel coat all the way down inside boat trailer support beams. Looks like it had air bubbles in it....a couple of pretty good gashes. but nothing that should make it be put put to pasture. Photos coming later tonight....I want to remove the motor..etc... turn upside down so I can get to the damage better. I though about sanding all the old repairs back down to the damaged area reglassing, putting back on a gel coat to match.... then re-finishing it. Any direction someone can give me would be considered.
Thanks in advance.

Jeff, those pics are far too large, shrink them down to about 800 pixels wide. Very tough to see!

Looks like blisters to me. Either that or someone took a shotgun to it! :D The boat must have spent time docked for a while. A no-no without protection. Better do some reading up on blister repair.

Looks like you will be doing a lot of sanding and filling. Barrier coat and painting. It will be a time consuming project.

Good Luck!

Oh, welcome to Iboats!

Wondering if it was worth taking on or have it done professionally.

It wouldn't hurt to get a bid. It'll give you a point of reference to see if you want to study further.
