I am working on the attempting to fix some what of a steering issue. Here is my issue, I have a starboard side mounted steering system, and I can make a fairly sharp right and a very broad left when driving, so in other words the out drive turns further to the right than the left. Power steering pump seems to be functioning, there are no binding cables, this is the unit that has the booster on it, its all most as if the steering wheel is at the end of its cable or there is a hardened something preventing the steering from further entering the booster. the steering wheel is still factory straight so as in when the out drive is straight so is the steering wheel. the steering is not a rack and pin but rather the other wrapped toothed cable style for a lack of better words. I just need more left hand steering, if this where an out board, with rack n pin no problem on the fix but this has me a little stumped. Any advice would be appreciated.

So, if I understand it,when you look at the power assist unit there still part of the power assist ram sticking out when you have the wheel all the way to the stop. If that is so, then disconnect the cable at the engine end and see if the steering will go further to port, which inside the boat is to starboard since there's a tiller in there. You don't have to run the motor for this, just give it a good hard push. Turning it with the motor off takes effort to overcome the inactive power steering hydraulics. You can also do this by turning it from the drive from outside the boat.
If the drive won't turn you want to address that.
But if the cable won't go any further check the mount for the cable, can it be moved to starboard? Or can you do a repair to the helm? That's the part up by the steering wheel. If it's assembled with screws and bolts maybe you can open it up and get it fixed to return it to full range. If you decide to open it be very careful, don't loose any parts and reassemble it the same as you found it. Maybe it's off by a tooth or 2. Otherwise you may need a new cable and helm assembly.

Ayuh,... It sounds like who ever put the helm on the cable, didn't get it centered....

My thoughts precisely.

And the name of the steering system you have is 'Rotary'....

Thank you yes it is a rotary, I knew that too lol, I will most likely be digging into tomorrow evening, so i will let you guys know what happens. But just so I have this right disconnect the steering line that comes from the steering wheel(but disconnect it back at the engine end) and try and turn the out drive to see if it is the drive that binding or if it is cause the steering wheel is out of cable correct and then address which ever is the issue, either it is the drive or the wheel, one of the two...
