Running in a barrel shouldn't cause any problems???
The screw on the carb is for idle only.
It sets the air fuel mix and doesn't do anything for the motor once it goes past idle.
Set it at about 1 1/2 turns and then adjust once the motor goes in the water and in gear.
Thanks for the info! As far as the idle screw went that’s what I did. Tightened it down then backed it off 1.5 turns. The guy I talked to said that the amount of oxygen in water may affect performance??? He compared it to whitewater kayaking and paddling in oxygen rich water... in theory it seems like it would make sense. Also quick random question... what does it mean for a motor to cavitate? Does this mean too much air in water for it to properly propel?
