'95 Mercury Tracker 115...how do I bypass low oil alarm but keep high temp alarm?

I am doing away with the oil injection in this '95 Mercury Tracker 115. If I drain the oil from the outboard oil tank then I will of course get a low oil alarm. What do I need to do with the wires to disable the low oil alarm but also insure that my high temp alarm will still sound. I hear people keep mentioning blue wires or a purple wire? Just not sure what to do with them.

I may not understand completely but from some reading have heard that these 2 alarms are somewhat connected. Or some people just undo the horn which in my opinion is a mistake. I want to make sure that my temp alarm is still intact and working after jerking off oil tank.

Another thought I had was to just plug the oil tank line while leaving oil in it to keep the alarms intact.......Would this work also?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the comment. Though I'm not sure you know what the definition of a comment is.

Ya know I do realize you addressed the answer to this in my other thread. You said I could disconnect the float, then if all is could trace the wires back to the engine and unhook them. What I didn't understand is if you are disconnecting the wires from the engine why you would disconnect the float or vice versa???

In this thread I am basically asking if disconnecting the wires from the oil tank to engine will in anyway effect the temp sensor/temp alarm? I thought I read somewhere that the temp sending unit might have been powered by the wires from the oil sending unit when it is working properly. Thus making it to where the wires from the low oil alarm need to route back to a module in another location or something like that. That's why I'm asking! If you don't know then admit it or save the crap. At least I'm willing to admit not knowing something and ask questions to learn and better understand the system I own.

Unplug the 2 blue wires from the tank to module, this disables the float from setting off the alarm. The purple wire is for the V-6 not the 115hp.

Just disconnect the wires. The alarm only sounds when the circuit is completed not when it's open.

Thanks to both of you for explaining this. That was my next question was if the oil sending unit was a normally open or normally closed switch. Thanks for the help. Greatly appreciated

I didn't. My original thread was about the best way to bypass the oil injection itself (oil lines, pump shaft, etc.). This thread was about the alarms and making sure one alarm didn't directly effect another. I'm done with this subject. I got the info I needed. Thanks for trying

Let me help (again)
There are several inputs to the oil alert module. You don't care what they are because you are going to discard it.

The output of the oil alert grounds the alarm circuit, off and on repeatedly if the module is working correctly. The other end of the wire goes to a sonalert noise maker, and the other side of that goes to 12V when the key is on. When the alarm circuit is grounded, the alarm sounds.

The overtemp switch grounds the same circuit, holding it down solid to ground while the engine is overheated.

When you remove the oil alert module, leave the wiring for the overheat alarm in place.

hope it helps
