95 ocean pro 150 alarm

I have a 95 ocean pro 150 v6. Everything ran great the last time I was out, accept the low oil level alarm went off a few times when we were running in (with a 3/4 full oil tank) totaly forgot about it. So the other day turned on the key to check the gas level, and alarm went off with the key turned to the on position without the motor running. It was a constant buzz (like the alarm for overheating or no oil). Deconnected the tan wire at the alarm and it stopped. Ran the motor with the wire disconneced, it ran fine, and was using oil. THe alarm still beeps once when the key is turned on to say that it is working ok. So my question is could I have a bad oil level sensor? Open to any other ideas. Thanks Much.

I have a 94 Ocean Pro so maybe the alarms are different, but on mine a continuous alarm indicates an over temp or fuel restriction. A beep every 40 seconds indicates low oil in the tank. I am not quite sure what you mean when you say you disconnected the tan wire at the alarm. If you disconnected the tan wire right at the oil tank and the alarm stopped, it sure sounds like you are headed in the right direction. The switch at the tank is open with the oil level above about the 1/4 mark and closed below that point.

Yep thats the overheat or fuel restriction alarm. Not oil.

That was my mistake, the continious alarm is for overheat or fuel. However my alarm is going off with just the key in the on position, the motor is not running. (can not overheat without running, or at least I hope not) I looked at where the alarm buzzer is at (under the dash, standing on my head) and traced a tan wire back to the oil tank. THe tan wire is attached to the buzzer so I disconnected it and the buzzing stopped.

So I guess what I am really wondering is why the alarm is going off without the motor running, and how to fix it. I think it has something to do with the oil sensor but could be totaly wrong.

I need help with the above subject. I am a nebie to this site so any help you could provide will be appreciated. I have replaced water pump, impeller, thermostat, temperature switch, fuel line, fuel filter, etc. I get a beep beep every 5 seconds or so. It start once I apply full throtle. Once I reduce the throtle it stops. Any help or suggestions??

Discontinuous alarm is overtemp. 1st thing to do is make absolutely sure the motor isn't overheating, then check wiring and last the temp switch at the powerhead. If the alarm stops when you disconnect the knife switch new the sensor, the sensor may be bad. If it doesn't stop, a likely short to ground exists in the wiring back to the horn from the motor. Check the switch resistance to ground ... if zero, sensor is bad.

Is this pertaining to my issue? I don't thik is overheating since I am able to touch the engine while running? I tought the constant beep will be overheating or fuel problem. Could the sensor be damage? The buzzing is only about 3/4 throtle and it will stop once I let off the throtle slitely. Any suggestions????
