95 OMC Cobra 3.0 Outdrive Replacement Options

I have a 95 OMC Cobra 3.0L outdrive that I need to replace. I am looking at used ones on ebay but would like to know what other years (if any) will work with my setup.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy,

You have a Cone Clutch drive. so you'll have to replace it with a similar drive. I don't think any of the dog-clutch drives will even bolt to that gimbal mount.

Check with a Volvo dealer. That may be an SX. (Don?)

Can get a kit to retro-fit a Mercruiser or SEI Drive

They currently only have a kit that works with dog-clutch drives. AFAIK, they wont work with the newer cone-clutch drives....

Yeah, and if it's NOT an SX drive (identical to the Volvo) then it's one of the REALLY rare ones that parts are even more scarce and hard to find.....

Actually not a bummer since that drive is better than a mercruiser or sei.

Yeah, I understood these were bulletproof. Why do you need to replace it?
