Hello:

Well here goes my question and problem!

When driving my boat lately there seems to be a Hesitation problem. It will start to bouge down but not stall or anything like that. It will do it repeatibly then stop and then start again. This Started just before I put the boat away for the winter. So what I've done like always is change the plugs, clean fuel filter and all the other normall stuff that should be done. This year I added a fuel separtor to the fuel line thinking this may be a fule issue. But today i went out and it's still there? Even tried touching the choke when it happened but that really didn't do much. With my tune up each year done by myself I always check every wire, hose etc and nothing seems to be loose?
It seems like it wants to chugg then stops and runs fine? When it's idling nothing happens it's only when I'm in gear and giving it the gas??

Has anyone seen this or had this issue with this motor and if so what did you do to correct it?

My wondering is leading me to think it's probably an ignition problem... Would this possibly be the power pack and if so what would the best way to test it?

Thanks in Advance

Robert
"The Spikester"

Hey would it be possible that the diapham in the fuel pump be worn out or would this mostly be a power pack issue?

Spikester

Dhadley:

Well I'm using Champion plugs...
I'm also wondering if possible if the anti syphon valve and the primer ball from the tank may cause this problem.
The reason thinking this is that the motor runs fine when idling. So wouldn't a power pack cause issue's even when idling?

Thanks

Robert

Well news for today is I removed the Anti-Syphon valve on the fuel tank and it's getting better. so now i'm going to change my priming ball because it went soft today on the water testing!!
So We are getting closer day by day!
Just thought I'd post this info for anyone out there!!

Spike

Re: 96 150 Faststrike Hesitations?

Well today I replaced the anti-Syphon valve and replaced all lines including primer ball. Started motor fine and then it started to bogg down so I pumped the primer ball to see if this would help. Motor died and wouldn't start after that. Waited awhile and tried again with the motor finally starting and then died again.
Puzzled on this.
Removed lines to fuel pump and pumped primer ball, fuel sprayed out with no problem. How do I test the fuel pump or should I just replace the diaphram in the pump?
Any idea's out there?????
Thanks
Spike
