Need a little history if possible. Have you had any work done?

Took it to a mechanic last year he put a new stater on. Ran fine until memorial day this year took it back he rebuild the carb said it ran fine in his drive way should be good. So ipicked it up and put it in the water and it just wont idle or run past 2100 rpm

You say he rebuilt the carb and tested in his drive? Final adjustments after a carb rebuild (i.e. fuel/air mixture, and idle) need to be done in the water with load on the motor. Also need to check timing. Same thing happened to me last year. Motor ran fine on muffs, but would bog down in the water. Do you have a manual?

The mechanic does. He said he adjusted everything where the manual said to set. He has got it on the lake now and last i talked to him he can;t get it going. Still sstalls when idle and runs only at 2100 rpm. Could it be the fuel pump.

If he's got it set right and it's still a problem, I would check compression, then spark. If that checks out ok, move onto fuel. Hopefully others will chime in too.

Not likely the fuel pump.

Sure could be no compression on one cylinder, or no spark.

Don't let him do any other work until he has checked compression and spark on all 3 cylinders.

He said the second cylinder was shot. I'm done messing with the Force motor, I ordered a whole new engine. Mercury Optimax 75 hp, oil injected, what do you think, is this a good motor?

Not a bad motor, but If I could afford/justify it, I would have ordered an E-tec.
