1996 E90SLEDR OceanPro V-4 "Looped Charged" is what I have. I apologize. I measured with a tape measure and after further review I found that's not an accurate way of doing it. I do it with the Nail/Yardstick way this time and it is right on 21 3/8" to the center of the hole.

Well you are currently under 21 1/2" and you need to be 1/16" under 22"... You are a half of an inch off and the tolerance is 1/32".. Unscrew the rod to the left to raise the eye-hole to 21 15/16". The allowable range is 21 29/32" to 21 31/32" with the ideal height of 21 15/16"..

And both ways you measured it you came up with the same number.. Just use a tape measure and get it close, one twist of the rod is enough to throw it out of tolerance, you'll know when you have measured it right. Make sure it is in neutral and also that the rod hole is facing forward.

The shift rod height for a 1996 model 60 degree looper 90 hp is available on the charts.-----Make sure of the correct adjustment and correct procedure.

Well, I don't think that went so well. :( I turned it until it got to 21 5/8" and then it would go any further. It now seem like its unscrewed from inside. The shift rod can move front to back side to side etc. and I can hear it tap on other things on the inside of the case when I move it around. This sucks! Just when I thought easy fix. smh. really lost now.

No Title

Yes it is in neutral. Prop spins freely. I used the chart attached as well.

I guess I was going by the previous post (#20 & #23) If I go by what I originally thought was right my shaft was right on at 21 1/8". So the height adjustment was not needed or the problem. This is a 90 HP 60 degree Looper from what I can tell. so that would be 21 1/8" I didn't think anyone touched the rod while the LU was out. I I didn't turn it until just today. I can take it back down to 21 1/8" again and go from there.
