Re: 96 ranger bench seat

Bench seat is probably attached from below to carpeted panel that covers gas tank. Three or four screws across the front below the seat and same across the back. Screw heads are covered with plastic caps, you have to look for them.

Re: 96 ranger bench seat

I have the same problem. Can't find the screws to remove the bench seat on my Ranger R72 it is a 1998 with the two hand hold straps. I emailed Ranger and they sent me a install diagram that shows two screws 4 inches from each end of the bench seat that secures a bracket on each side. I can't locate the screws anywhere. Can anyone help???

Re: 96 ranger bench seat

Please read the thread on this page, 6 posts down, "seat removal" from muddyjc on June 23.

It seems that bench seats can be held in place by two brackets and you have to get in front of the seat and push straight back to free the seat bottom from the brackets. There is enough "give" in the uphostery to do this.

Once you remove the seat, it's easy to see how the brackets hold the seat. Ranger is pretty ingenious with their seat hold-downs.
