I just cleaned all my plugs and replaced them. Started the motor up and it ran fine for about a minute then quit.
Now I can choke the motor with the key but it will not turn over/attempt to start.Fresh battery that's all charged up.
Any ideas?

If motor will not turn over check the battery cables and connections. Do a voltage drop test on cables and connections to see where you are loosing it.

Thanks-I wiggled my forward /reverse handle and all is well.
Is it possible for a water pump to be working and not shoot water out the tell tale spout when running in driveway on muffs?
I found a bunch of dead beetle type bugs that made a home in my motor getting flushed out when I put the muffs on and started it up.

If it won't turn over at all it is either not getting electricity to the starter or it has locked up solid. I'd check voltage, wires, etc, and remove the spark plugs to try to trun the fly wheel. It is possible that the lower unit is frozen but not likely. I'd expect to you would hear a click as the starter tried to turn the engine.

As far as the water pump, if you see bugs they have been in there and must be cleaned out. This does not necessarily mean it is clogged. My engine hardly runs on muffs. It takes it a while to get primed.

The problems are increasing, a piece of my gear case housing the size of my fist came off back by the prop.
Still runs but I need a lower unit now.
I had it looked at and I was told I could get a patch welded over it for about $300.00?

Sorry to be a pessimist but it sounds like it has been used in salt water. Raises some different questions.
Try looking for a lower on Ebay. Welding the cast aluminum is not the best idea. You should be able to get a replacement from a fresh water motor for about the same money. Parts lists indicate 1986-2001 will fit.
If it is a salt motor then corrosion is going to be the problem, electrical connections being the first issue.
Suzuki's don't like muffs and rarely pump. Need to set the lower in a big tub with water above the cavitation plate. The deeper the better.
