97 35hp 3 Cylinder

Can't get it to start and idle. Have cleaned the carbs twice now thinking I missed something and samething. This thing previously ran great but then sat for over a year and figured it needed a carb rebuild. Can prime it and start it but it runs at a high rpm. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the sync & link on it correct. Are the slow speed needles adjusted properly ?? If it's still got the oil tank on it get rid of it and mix your fuel 50:1.

Oil tank went as soon as I saw compression was good and bought it. This thing ran like a striped a...you know. Then sat because I decided to redo the boat it sits on. Well when I ran it next it would start and idle but nothing more. Figured the carbs were gummed up so I cleaned them and rebuilt. Now it will not start and idle. It will only start with throttle advanced with the primer but will not idle. So it seems I have the opposite of prior to the carb rebuild.

Is the high speed jet in the float bowl good and clean ??

I'll clean again tomorrow, that will be the third time. I've rebuilt many carbs and never had this much trouble before. Just strange to me that it goes from firing right up but not much throttle after, then cleaning/rebuild to no idle and a bear to even start.

Pull the jet out and check it or else run a packing wire through it . Do this on all three.
