97' Bass Tracker 40HP - 2 Stroke dies when running

I almost have a perfectly running boat except for a new issue just arose. When jetting across the lake at "higher" speeds my Mercury 40HP just dies. Once I pull my face off of the fairing I can fire it right back up and continue my voyage. I do not know if this happens at WOT only as I have not tested it at lower RPMs. I have replaced the fuel filter and fuel line with no success. Anyone had issues like this with a Mercury of this size? Perhaps the fuel pump?

Thanks in advance for any assistance or suggestions.

The thing about it is I changed the fuel filter and fuel line right before I so one of them might be the culprit. I am going to first replace the fuel line and see if that helps. However to answer your question I have not checked the plugs but I will and I have had new gas since the problem arose. Stay tuned and thanks for the response !!

Check for air leaks or cracked lines. Check the outlet check valve on the squeeze bulb is still in place. Mine came out and plugged the line while at 3/4 full throttle.
Also I had to remove the check valve at the fuel tank once for a similar issue.

That great suggestion - I had just replaced my fuel filter and fuel line then this started happeneing. I went to Mercury and bought a Quicksilver OEM fuel line and filter and I am going to replace one at a time and see if I can't resolve it. Otherwise it was just coincidental that it started doing this after I replaced those parts. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the response !!!! :)
