In the fall of 99 I replaced the head gasket by my dealer, they said even with the extended warrenty it was a WEAR PART, not covered! July 2000 blown again, took it to a diffrent shop at the Jersey shore, extended warrenty covered it. June 30, 2001, blown again! This motor SUCKS! Still under warrenty but this is the last summer with it. I now have a empty slip that I paid over a thousand dollars for and my boats at the shop! Has this been a problem for any one else? And it looks like we are going to the Yamaha 150 with fuel injection, whats your opinion on those motors?

My boat is in the water so I have to use the regular unleaded because that and diesel is all they offer. As far as maintance, I care for this more then I do for my Expedition! And that cost $10,000.00 MORE! Where are my priorities?

Has anyone checked the the head in question to insure that it is flat? could be warped, I would be amazed if this has been overlooked for so long.

yes, the head was shaved last year. I did find that after I blew the gasket that the bolts on the head were loose. Probably from vibration I don't know. And yes the shaft is strait.

I do know that the heads are supposed to be re-torqued after so many hours of operation, was this done also?

I have not looked at one of these engines, but I would check head and block with straightedge, use oem gasket, replace all head bolts, use gasket sealer on bolts, replace waterpump and thermostat, insure water pressure relief valve is working , check overheat alarm<br />sender, verify engine temp with melt stick or digital pyrometer, check advanced timing.
