97' Force 75 carbs fuel pump?

Got a bunch of water in tanks. Siphoned it all out. Now, it seems that there is no gas getting to the carb. When I squeeze the pump hard enough to see gas actually coming out of the carb, it starts right up. Put some seafoam in the engine, took the carb off, cleaned it as best I could and it seemed to remedy the problem. Now it will start fine, but when I put in gear and throttle up it dies. The fuel line bulb goes flat and I have to start it over pumping the bulb. That seems to be a fuel pump issue. If I rebuild pump, will it resolve the problem with engine not running smoothly above idle or when I try to go full throttle. The boat will run about 400 yards and then just gradually die back as if it is losing gas. Thanks in advance for any help. sorry for long post.

If you replace the fuel pump diaphragm, make sure that you clean all line and filters related to the fuel system,as you you may have picked up trash from the bad gas, also if your pump assembly has them,I would also look at replacing the check valves . Keep us posted on your progress. MOPARMAN ROLL TIDE

If the primer bulb goes flat, the fuel pump is good. The problem is either at the quick-connect at the tank if you have one, or GOO clogging the pick-up in the tank

Thanks for advice. I will replace all hoses as well. Frank, what does it mean that the bulb keeps going flat? If I pump it back up, the boat will start back up and run a little while. Then it just goes flat. The last time it did that I changed the diaphram and it did okay. Is there something else that is making the bulb go flat, or would picking up debris do that?

Re: 97' Force 75 carbs fuel pump?

When the engine stalls with the bulb flat, it has no fuel. When you rest it and re-pump the bulb, then you refill the carbs. If fuel flow is restricted, as the engine runs, the bulb goes flat again. The fuel pump can not supply the full amount of fuel needed and the carbs go dry--the engine stall again

There is a restriction between the bulb and the tank. With a marginal diaphragm, the pump will starve for fuel so a new diaphragn will pull fuel better through the restriction. HOWEVER as the restriction gets worse, even a brand new fuel pump will starve. If your bulb is going flat, check the pick-up inside the tank. If you have a quick connect at the tank, clean out both male and female fittings. with no fuel in it, shake the bulb. The check valves should rattle. A stuck check valve on the tank side of the bulb will also cause it to go flat
