I have had a low water reading recently with occassional engine warning, now I have no reading at all at idle with warning light on when in water immediately but not at all when I use the muffs or flush from the top. I removed the lower unit and checked the impellor which is only about 10 hours old, I fixed the hose to the water intake, removed the thermostats and it gushed out the tell tale. I started the engine with the lower unit removed, dunno if that's okay or not, and still no reading. Before I hand it over to the experts is there anything else I can check?
cheers

If you are speaking of a water pressure guage, check the hose from the engine to the guage. Wrong waterpump, thermostats. This engine make a lot of water pressure. Tattle tale should be strong

Were you having a water pressure problem before the new impeller was installed? If not, there must be some problem with the installation. Maybe the drive key fell out during assembly.

I'm kind of discounting the water pump because when I used to flush from the top without the engine running the gauge showed about 5 psi now it doesn't register. I only removed the thermostats to give it a full flush, the alarm comes on with them fitted or not. I was leaning toward the gauge itself can you direct me where it comes from the powerhead? My Seloc manual wont tell me and my oem manual is still on order.
Thanks for your advice.

Ok it's Sunday morning here so I just had another look for the gauge line and found it. It was blocked, I've cleared it. The powerhead end was clear, there is no electrics on the gauge would this cause the engine warning?
