New to me pontoon boat with a steering set up from a 1960s Johnson the previous guy put on.
I’m putting a 97 Johnson 40hp on and I’m not sure what I need to do to make this work properly.
Can someone tell me what this is suppose to look like? I know it’s not right and nothing it’s tightened up but not sure what to do to fix it.
Thanks!

Get rid of that " mickey mouse " bracket.----Put cable through the tilt tube on the motor.----Tighten the nut.----Hook up the draglink.

I don't think this motor has a tilt tube, may need to add one or use a similar style transom mount bracket, but change the long rod that goes to the tiller bolt to something safer. I think the steering set up pictured actually needs to be moved back closer to the motor, and a proper steering arm installed.
