My prior post included another issue that I was having with RPM's surging and and occasionaly stalling... I do still have this issue....

but this weekend a new issue started. I am having a real hard time putting the boat in forward and reverse, and an even harder time going from forward to reverse, it seems in Neutral the boat stays in previouse gear unless I shake the controls... I looked for a friction adjustment, couldn't find anything, looke for loose nuts or bolts in the engine bay... nothing... any ideas?

also still looking for ideas on the stalling, surging issue...

You wouldn't have the quicksilver commander 3000 shifter would you?
My 96 had a pair of those and they got difficult to shift and in a week one snapped. I found a recall and got a new pair of shifters and cables installed at no charge. Probably not your case but thought I would bring it up.

Your boat is way newer than mine, but if it's similar (And I'll bet it is). There is a device where the cable from the front (Shifter) comes in, and the cable from the back (Outdrive) goes out.

If you remove one cable, you will be able to determine whether the binding is in the shifter/front cable or the outdrive/rear cable. Then take appropriate action to repair. Review the manual in the adults only section for info on the linkage and how to adjust them.

I suspect your issue is like many others have had, and that is corosion around the cable where it exits the transom fitting. This causes stiffnes and eventually failure (Stuck in or ot of gear). This may also cause stalling when shifting into gear and difficulty in coming out of gear, which may be the other symptoms you are describing. If this is the case, replace the cable.
