Mine is cracked but not all the way through. Should I replace it? What is the part number as I can't find it? It's the white plastic spacer that fills the gap when mounting the rear pivot pin & trim cylinders.

I'm 99% sure it's part number 808006 and it costs <$4 I think replacing it would be a good idea.

MM gave you the right part number.
You can go to Mercurypartsexpress.com under Merc parts and type in that PN to verify.
This will come up.

Out of curiousity, what's the downside of reversing the location of that part so that the drive tilts down even further when trimmed all the way down? I'm thinking holeshot would probably improve but it could make the boat less stable.

Mischief
your correct
only sometimes the bow steer on certain hulls becomes dangerous at plning speeds with the drive trimmed full down.
not all hulls are affected.
its something that is supposed to be checked by the hull manufacturer and/or the Pre Delivery Inspection/sea trial.
you have to remember, this isnt a ford or chevy or lexus were the factory controls all aspects of the propulsion and hull systems.
mercruiser sometimes cannot control what their drive train is installed in.
they can make reccomendations but in the end hull design ,Xdimensions and transome angles are done by the guy that designed the hull not by mercruiser.
