Hello,

I have no spark at all on any of my 3 cylinders- starter motor/flywheel are turning over strong. I want to verify the basic stuff first. Does the kill switch circuit have to be opened or closed for the ignition sequence to work?

Thanks

It has to be open. When closed it grounds the black/yellow wire coming from the switch box. That same wire is also what turns the motor off at the ignition switch. An easy test is to disconnect it at the switch box, then test for spark. Or turn the key on and check it for a ground with an ohm meter.

I disconnected from the switch box and still have no spark. I'm thinking maybe a bad stator or switch box? What are some good test for these components? Am I on the right track with my thinking? Also, is a stator and powerpack the same thing?

FYI- turned out that all 3 CDMs were bad. Once replaced, it fired right up. My next question- I replaced the original Champion spark plugs with the Autolite replacement. Could using different brand spark plugs cause my CDMs to fail? Should I only run Champion? Thanks.
