98' Johnson 130 fuel mix or oil injection?

I'm helping my brother in law with a boat he just bought it has a Johnson 130hp 98' model on it, our question is can the oil injection be disconnected and use the gas oil mix method without damaging the fuel pump as it appears to be one unit?
