98' Johnson 130 reverse issue????

Hi,

I have a 98' model Johnson 130. The motor is on a C/C boat. It seems to do fine in forward. When I try to back off the trailer it has no power. Motor just rev's up and ever so slowly moves. I have never had this issue in any other outboards I have owned in the past. Anyone have any ideas? Even when the boat is off the trailer and you put her in reverse she is hesitant to move(sluggish) seems just to cavitate???

Check your cable adjustments. Do you know if the engine is truly going into reverse gear?

Thanks. I may let my mechanic take a look at it. The prop spins but it is like the engine has no power to pull the buat in rev. My mechanic said he thinks it's not getting enough RPM'S?? Thanks.
