recently i've been noticing my 98 johnson 200hp has been acting strange sometimes.whenever i start it after squeezing bulb and filling carbs with gas, it fires right up but then shortly later the motor shuts off unless i squeeze bulb a second time until motors warm . also if i do a quick rev it dies once it revs down but starts right back up. carbs were completely rebuilt 6 months ago.. thinking the fuel pump could be going? it runs fine without a problem after warm as long as i dont rev it out of gear. how can you check fuel pump or should i just replace and try, i have a used one laying around. could this be because i used the lowest grade of evinrude oil last time? it smoked realy bad while this oil was in it. now i use the red xd30 oil only. any input will help:cool:
