'98 johnson 6hp 4-stroke

I was thinking of buying this johnson but I heard that the '90s was a bad year for johnson. I know the larger motors had the Ficht problems in those years but I havn't read anything about the smaller motors. The guy is selling it for $750 and that sounded like a good deal but I wanted to check here first.<br />Thanks for any help you can give me!

The little OMC made 4 strokes are fine engines, Hondakid. Any of the QC issues that came up at the time would be fixed by now.<br /><br />If it has had reasonable care during the last 8 years it will be fine.<br /><br />Reasonable care means that the present owner has and uses an Owner's Manual, always stores it correctly and can tell you when it had its last major service (impeller, plugs, link 'n'synch).<br /><br />Gofrit!
