When I went to purchse the boat it started right up and ran good. So I took it 0ut on the lake, I got it out on the water and it did not want to turn over, when it finally did it wasn't running right. I had it full throttle and it was bogging down, everyonce in a while it would start to run better and gain speed. I looked at the motor and it felt like two wires where not snap on the the spark plugs. The battery went dead on me so I went to check it, the battery terminal was melted. I kept trying to start it and thought maybe that could have melted the terminal. We had to get towed back. Any suggestions on what we should check?
Thank you

First thought is there may be water in the gas tank. Moving the boat and launching probably caused the water to be picked up in the fuel system.

Check/change the fuel filter/water sep. Dump out in to a pan or something you can assess the fuel in filter for water content.

2nd thought, pull the Distributor cap and check for corrosion.

If fuel problem you will have to pull the carb to dump out and hope that works.
