Have 1986 150 hp Mariner need to know what are the air, fuel settings?Runs great once on plane soon as you come to a stop and idle for 5 min maybe will start's to run rough and will cut off sometimes if you do not put it in neutral and rev the engine a couple of times then it cleans up but will do the same thing again in another 5 mins!Thank you for the help in advance!

There are no adjustments on that series of carb (WHM) as idle mixture and main (high speed) are controlled by a fixed jet. From what you are describing the recirculating (bleed) valves are stopped up or clogged causing engine to loadup. The valves are under the carbs and have the small black lines attached to them, remove the line from fitting while running and it should be a real fine mist that emits from fitting. If nothing, blobs or dribbles emit for it it is clogged/bad, I myself replace them on customers engines.

One other thing you might try. Make sure tha motor is trimed level or a touch positive when your at idle. Tha older Mercs with tha WH's never did like being tucked all tha way in at idle unless everything is perfect............
