99' 200 merc optimax/ dropped lower unit now won't start

before I dropped my lower unit it ran and started perfect. Now when I try to start it the fuel pump kicks on but it wont crank over. I've put the lower unit back on and it wont crank over still. I've moved the fwd. nuetral reverse knob to try and find nuetral but still nothing. Any ideas???

Perhaps your battery is bad, a circuit is open, you have a bad connection somewhere, or your starter has failed. Perhaps it is a coincidence or perhaps your did something wrong when you dropped the lower unit. Your best bet is to use a multimeter to test the starter circuits. The below linked guide for my 150hp may help give you some ideas. Getting the manual for your particular motor is best.
