ok i have 3 quick questions
1.) I have a 9.5 rude 1971 year and my boss at work wants to trade me straight up for the 25 hp is this a good deal the 25 is the 2 stroke has elec start but something wrong with starter runs fine if started with pull start though
2.) will this be to much motor for my 14 alum jon boat? i have reinforced the transom with a 1/4" thick sheet of aluminum i have no doubts about it holding up to anything as far a power and thrust wise but what about control
3.) can this outboard be converted to remote stear and throttle (putting controle console up front to counter the weight and thrust in back from the bigger motor

thanks in advanced

as far as im concerned you should never ask "can" but instead ask "how" if you cannot buy a specific kit to add steering and throttle, you can always rig up a push pull, pully system to do the job. and throttle cable cant be too hard to come around. i would make it work if you really want to. i have a 14foot star craft shallow hull, and its rated up to 25hp.

I run a 1986 mariner 25M on my 14'x36" Jon. I have a 12 gal fuel tank placed up front for better balance. As for the transom when I replaced it I added a 48"x6"x 3/4" oak board so I could run a bigger motor.

ok cool thanks alot I figured it would not be much of a problem to run it and i have a few ideas on riggin so i dont have much of a issue there just mainly currious if it was a good deal to trade even on the 9.5 to 25 swap wonder how the top speed is going to be lol boss said its to much for his fiberglass boat but i think his boat needs to be ballanced out a bit better and he wants the 10 because some of the lakes he fishes has size restrictions
